Terengganu : Part 3 - The Wait and Ride to Redang Island

01092012 - I woke up very early about 630am to catch any hints of the sunrise. Unfortunately, the clouds were very intimidating. So, I went back to sleep. And came out half an hour later to see hints of orange peaking out from behind the clouds.

Quiet breakfast facing the beach.

Time to check out from the Resort. We left at about 8.45am, because we were supposed to be at the jetty at about 9am.

I parked my car at the parking lot reserved, and paid RM10 for one day's rate. There were a few stalls set up selling souvenirs - hats, soft toys, dresses and magnets. We thought the boat will leave at 9am, but it turned out to be 10.30am. The boat did not arrive till 10.15am. So, we walked around the area, which was actually a 500m walk. Snapped photos of boats and the clear waters.

The jetty to wait for our boat. It was empty at 9am. So much for punctuality. Well, we are in a 'holiday-island' mode, and so no reason to be in a hurry anyway.

Also, we must pay RM5 each for the conservation ticket - conservation measures to preserve the Island.

Look at this signboard! I did not realise the spelling mistake of "little" until my friend pointed it out.

The place we are staying is located at Pasir Panjang. It is located somewhat in the middle of the picture. It is coloured in green.

In this below picture, it is located somewhere in the middle of the photo too. There is a blue circle next to the name. In the same line as the word Pulau Redang but on the right side.

So clear the waters that I can see fish swimming too! It got me really excited! Because I am expecting pristine blue waters in Redang Island!

By 10am, I decided to wait at the jetty. An hour of walking 500m which includes stopping at every jetty (there are different jetties for different booth operators), photo snapping, and absorbing the scenery. So, we sat at the jetty, watching the waters lapping against the boat, smelling the diesel, looking at the locals talking to one another, and talking about how good I look in the photos (giving credit to the photographer). Haha!

Finally, the boat is here! Ahh!! I love this sort of boat! It brings out the feeling of going to an island.

There were about 10 people in the boat. And all of us were required to wear life jackets - or risk fined by the marine officers. Plus I would prefer to wear one as I am not a good swimmer. And off we go! It was about a 45 minute boat ride! Getting on the boat was a bit phobic for me, as I recalled my ferry ride to Lombok, Bali, where I got sea-sick. The sea was not so choppy but the boat was bumping up and down most of the times.

I tried blowing bubbles but the breeze was too strong, and the bubbles burst before it could form.

I was waiting in anticipation to catch a glimpse of Redang Island! And finally, I see it. My first island in the east coast! I was loving every minute of the boat ride as it approaches the island. The resorts were coming to sight, the other boats were appearing in my line of vision, the blue crystal clear waters was in my hands, and my feet was itching to feel the sand.

At last, the boat docked at the wooden pier. After that bumpy boat ride, I was a bit unstable as I climbed off the boat.

The wooden pier was shaky a bit, but I was so overwhelmed with emotions that I did not give a care on that. I am sure someone will save me if I fall off the pier.

Hello Soft Toys,
Thank you. By the way, what 'one more post' are you referring to?
