Penang : Part 3 - Murals and Beef Noodle

130114 - Today, we hunt for murals in George Town, Penang's Historical Site. It is one of the World Heritage Site. The murals all started from a Lithuanian painter, a Mr Ernest Zacharevic. Now, there are lots of them in George Town. It is like there are so many empty walls to draw on! There were also cartoon art made from steel. We were headed for breakfast in George Town too. We are having beef noodle, and my local friend said it is famous. We were there early, and did not see much customers, so I had doubt on its popularity.

I see murals, I see old buildings, I see peeled-off walls. I love the old 'feel' of George Town.

There are even some Hokkien (local dialect in Penang) words painted to teach you some basic words.

The poses people do to get a photograph.

Ta-da, our breakfast spot at Beach Street. This is Lebuh Pantai. The name of the shop is Lam Ah Coffee Shop. The closest landmark I can give you is that it is right opposite the fire brigade. I saw a poster of the history of buildings in Penang inside the shop. Very informative. I get to appreciate how the buildings' architecture evolve from the traditional planks, to bricks to cement with the influence change from Chinese to Western.

Here is my beef noodle soup and my cup of almond. This is my first time I had my almond drink. It has a different taste. The beef noodle soup has a sweet herbal taste and its beef juicy and tender. Unfortunately, it comes with a price tag of RM10. Yesterday, it was the char kway teow of RM8. So over-priced.

After breakfast, my friend and I detoured into a Hotel - Boutique Hotel. It has very Chinese interior design, though the place is a bit cramped.

Sharing more of the murals and old buildings.
