Penang : Part 2 - Thai Buddhist Temple, Straits Quay and Bendera Hill

After our Char Kway Teow lunch, it was time to be a tourist and visit some local areas. First up, the famous Thai Buddhist Temple. Seriously, it is famous. There was another temple opposite the Thai Buddhist Temple, but my friend (she is a local Penangite) brought us into the Thai Buddhist Temple. Inside, I could see the Sleeping Buddha. I say a few prayers for Buddha to give me emotional and mental strength. I think Buddha answered my prayers. I feel stronger. I am my own worst critic and best motivator because I am so stubborn. Previously, I always felt dirty and sinful when I see Buddha. I dare not snap a photo with him or of him. But now, I learn from my mistakes, and I try to be a better person. I don't fear Buddha anymore. Anyway, I digress. We spent less than an hour in the temple.

My friend directed us to a harbour. Well, I did not know it was a harbour. I thought it was a mall, because there were shops, and there was a mall too. Haha. The place is called Straits Quay. When we walked outside the mall, I was so surprised to see a harbour! The rows of luxury boats decked at the jetty. Wow. Oh ya, I saw a Charlie Brown cafe too inside the mall.

I saw this banner on the drive back! It is so funny.

Our next destination - Bendera Hill. It is next to the Botanical Garden. While waiting for our ride to go up Bendera Hill, we got ourselves each an ice-cream which costs RM3. The ice-cream seller took over the business from his parents. How great he lives his parent's legacy. One can walk up Bendera Hill too, but we chose to take a ride. Lots of joggers jog up Bendera Hill, and some even cycle too. Now, cycling is possibly tough because at some route, it is pretty steep. I could see my energy will deplete within 10 minutes of cycling.

At 6pm, our ride comes and up we go to the top of Bendera Hill which took us about 30 minutes. It was not very cold when we reached the top. There were not many visitors at the peak.

Now, here is the view of Penang from the top of Bendera Hill. From evening till night falls. It was a beautiful sight when the whole of Penang lit up. I took this photo from my Instagram folder. So, it looks a bit blur.

Now that I have visited Penang Hill (Bendera Hill), I have been to Penang!
