Gunung Arong : My First Hike that Exits to a Beach

10112013 - I went for a hike which is at the southern part of Malaysia. This place is located in the east coast in the district of Mersing which is in the state of Johore. This place is called Mountain Arong because it is the highest point in Tanjung Resang (where the Mountain is located), hence, the word 'Mountain', but in actual fact, it is a hill of 898ft (292m). We started our drive on a Friday night and reached about 10am the next morning. It was a lazy Saturday where I slept most of the time, before lunch, after lunch and a few hours after dinner. I never slept so much in a day before. I think it is because of the breeze from the sea. Oh did I not mention, the place we camped faces the South China Sea. There are no photos for the Saturday because there are not much activities to put up.

So let's just jump straight to Sunday where we did the climb. We drove to the start of the hill climb. It was not a steep climb. It was a 40-minute climb to the top. Unfortunately, though when we reached the top, the mist was thick and we could not see much of a view.

Going downhill was a bit slippery because it rained the night before. Good thing there is a rope to hold on to. Then, we reached another view point but it was fogged up. Not much of a scenery to see.

For the first time in my history of hiking and trekking, the exit of my walk faced the sea. It is very different. We walked back to our camp which was just behind some rocks. Then after, played in the waters!
