Merry Christmas, peeps! I love Christmas songs. I love Christmas cartoons. Right now, I am listening to Christmas songs by Glee. It is such a happy feeling!
This will be my last post for 2013. I have not planned my travels for 2014. But you know what I have in mind - to travel around the world after 2 years. I am going to start doing my itinerary. The world is so huge! I am so excited that I have this in my head. I am going to take a year off and travel around the world! Dear Universe, let's work together and make this happen!
161113 - Today, I visited Taman Pertanian Shah Alam. I registered myself and my friend for the Skytrex game! Gung-ho I was, and chose the Extreme Level at 8.30am. I thought to myself that I am probably not going back there again and so, I opt for the most difficult. I booked the tickets online for RM55 per person. Good thing there were still spots for us. To prepare ourselves for the game, my friend researched the videos for Skytrex Extreme level, and the videos really scared me out, because mostly, I was afraid of heights. My knees were shaking so hard as I watched those video. I almost chickened out but I told myself that I have paid RM55. That is a lot of money!
That morning, upon arrival, we waited at the entrance of the park, and it turns out that it was not the entrance. The staff called me to ask about our whereabouts. We were waiting at the wrong place. We were supposed to go to another entrance that has a green room. There was a bus waiting for us. We hopped on and it brought us to the Skytrek area.
We were ushered into the registration area. There, a staff briefed us on filling the registration forms, and informed us to buy gloves because the ropes will roughen our skins and may cause abrasions. I bought a pair of gloves for RM3. It is not very good quality but it will make-do. One can choose to store their bags in the lockers. There is a fee but I don't remember it now. It could be RM3.
Done with the registration, we went to the harness collection area. One pass the registration form to the lady in the harness collection room. She reads out our names and we collect our harness. A staff helps us to put on our harness. The harness was really tightly secured. I felt like I was having a stomachache!
We headed towards the Extreme Level deck. A staff was there to brief us on what to do. He did a demo on the start on how one climbs up the ladder, followed by a flying fox and land on the next stop. He did it so easy, and I thought it was a piece of cake. Boy, was I wrong! The first hurdle of climbing up the plastic tubes was tough on my arms. Then, the flying fox. I was scared to jump off the platform but I have to so that the other participants can follow, because a platform can hold 3 persons only.
After the low flying fox (and I said low because the others are relatively higher which freaked me out), the tougher hurdles start. More climbing up which really wore my arms out. It worn my arms out so badly that I was looking forward to flying fox because I just have to swing across only. Each stop has a sign on the number of maximum people on a platform, and how to use your carabiner and pulley because you need those for safety.
This is the 2nd toughest hurdle for me. One has to cross by walking on ropes that has a gap of 3 feet. My legs were shaking so badly from the unstability of the ropes. It was not helping either when a crowd gathered below me, and one of the onlookers cheered me on to miss a footing and fall down. Mean.
Now, this is the toughest hurdle for me. This requires walking on the tubes which wobbled so much. I thought when was this walk going to end. My arms were aching badly. My legs were shaking so badly. I was on the verge of throwing up. That was how scared I was. Once I completed this hurdle, I sat down and drank water to calm down my nerves.
In some areas, there were emergency exits where one can opt to leave midway. I was tempted many times to choose this route, but I tell myself to brave on.
Finally, the last hurdle. This requires one to swing across and land yourself on the next tube. I was frightened and the staff said that it was nothing to be afraid of. True enough, when I did my first swing, I was not afraid to do the next. But my arms were so tired that sometimes I swing too low, and had to scramble up the tube.
Finally, we reached the end. I was so glad. 1.5 hours. I faced my fear of heights. If you tell me to go back again, I will not. It was very nauseating.
Hooray!
