30092013 - Our bus ride was at 9.15am back to Kathmandu. We asked if we could get a ride from the lodge, but that requires extra payment. So, we walked. It was a good walk. It was not hot, plus good morning exercise after the heavy breakfast we had. The same we took to Sauraha was the same bus we took back to Kathmandu.
At 4.15pm, we reached Kathmandu. The bus did not stop at the bus station in Kantipath. So, switching on to traveller's mode, we asked people for directions to Thamel Street. It was just a 10 minute walk to the back alley of Thamel Street.
01102013 - Today is the day we leave Nepal. Finally, we get to have a taste of the breakfast in the hotel we have been staying ever since we stepped onto Kathmandu. We stayed in Buddha Hotel again upon our arrival from Sauraha yesterday. During the previous days we stayed in Buddha Hotel, we have to get up really early to leave for our destinations. Today, we woke up at 8am! How great is that!
After breakfast, we walked around Thamel Street to do some last minute shopping. We used up all our Nepalese Rupees. At 12.30pm, our trekking agent, Mr Nava personally came to send us off. He prepared a ride for us to the airport.
Day 18 in Nepal. It was a great trip to Nepal. From the highlands to the lowlands. From cold freezing temperature to the blazing hot heat. From fear of body sickness to fear of fauna. One word to describe - Labor. Physical labor. Mental labor. Emotional labor.
At the end of the day, both of us got what we came for. I came to step on Everest Base Camp. My sister came to see the diverse bird species of Nepal. We succeeded!
