Bandung : Part 2 - Some sight-seeing and a lot of shopping!

The next day, I was up the earliest. When I go on travels, I do not sleep that long. I want to utilise the day as much as possible! So, I walked out from the hotel. Oh, I just realised that I have not wrote about the hotel. I will do so in my next post. :-) I decided to just go where my feet was going to bring me. No restrictions!

The roads are really narrow. It looks like 2 vehicles are squeezing through, and somehow I feel as if the vehicle is going to fall on me!

The common transport is the "Angkutan Kota" (Town Transport). It's a van that is painted in green. I sat in one on the way back. It's Rp1000 (about RM0.40) for a short distance of 700m.

The local drink that was recommended in a mini-market. It tastes heavily of ginger.

I asked the locals for a 7-11 store (a convenient store) to buy a plug as the socket head here is different from ours. And true enough, they directed me to a 7-11 but this is not what I had in mind. It seems they translated the English word of 7-11 to the Indonesian language of "Tujuh Sebelas". Neither of us were wrong!

I was back at the hotel in an hour, and my friends and I got ready. We were ready to start our day! First destination - Tangkuban Perahu Volcano. 'Tangkuban Perahu' means upturned boat.

It was a 45 minute drive to Tangkuban Perahu Volcano

The ticket costs Rp50,000 (RM18). The portion of Rp35,000 is the insurance part. Just in case.

This is the maximum amount insured.
Death - Rp25 million
Permanent Disability - Rp25 million
Hospital Charges - Rp10 million
Burial Charges - Rp2 million

Tangkuban Perahu Volcano. The smell of sulphur was there but not strong. Don't ask me but I can't see the upturned boat either. You can see it in the keychains though!

Saw sweet corns for sale. Grilled ones.

Fried food. These are all vegetables. Bean curds, cabbages. Yeah, we shared. Sharing is caring. :-)

And we shared the glass of ginger tea. :-D This is one heck of a budget trip.

The fried cabbage.

Lots of stalls along the area.

And performance too.

I saw someone who took a photo in that position. And I decided to follow! I told him to help me snap my photo. :-)

Tried some grilled glutinous rice. Ketan is Indonesian language for glutinous rice.

Grilled glutinous rice topped with some minced coconut. Quite tasty.

Our guide for the day was hanging around with his friends at one of the stalls. His name is Dedi (pronounced as Daddy). A great guide that tells us what is expensive and how to buy, and avoid any cheats.

Next stop is the Ciater Hot Spring.

The price to enter the Hot Spring. Well, when you visit a tourist-packed area, you have to pay for everything.

The small pool to soak your feet.

The water in the middle is hotter than the surrounding water. But you get used to the water after soaking inside for about 10 minutes. For the effect of the hot spring water to seap through your skin, one must sit there for about 30 minutes.

We heard there was a waterfall that has no entrance fee. We could not find it and found another bigger pool that needs to be paid too. Well, if we kept walking further, we could have reached the waterfall. Oh well.

It was still fun too! Love the steaming heat. :-)

And it was time for lunch. Punculuk (Indonesian language for "puncak" which means peak) area where Sundanese food is common. This area was still at the hills.

The selection of food where we choose and they will cook for us. The Sundanese food is mostly wrapped in banana leaves and grilled it when chosen.

Lots of chicken to fry. :-D

The son is frying the wrapped food in the wok, and the father is preparing the chicken to be grilled.

Then, the daughter came out and served us rice. Which is purple in colour!

Tasty chilli paste. Not hot at all!

The chicken that was wrapped in banana leaves!

The moment that we have all been waiting for - SHOPPING! Our first Factory Outlet Store (FOS). FOS is abundant in Bandung, where branded clothings (made in Indonesia) that do not pass the quality requirements are sold here, or the clothings are produced more than the quantity required. Therefore, they are very cheap.

Example of cheap price - Burberry trench coat sold at Rp225,000 (RM81).

Zara long coat sold for Rp265,000 (RM95). Need I explain more?

Walked over to the next FOS. All the FOS are located next to each other.

Yes, there are little photos of the shopping we did. Well, when you shop, no one has time to snap photos! At night, we headed for Paris Van Java mall.

Birds are somehow, plenty in this mall. They are, of course, caged.

Went to Frankfurt for dinner. We wanted to eat at a food court, but apparently, there was none. And there were no local Indonesian food in this mall. All international meals.

A friend suggested to go for karaoke in the mall.

Awesome! We are such good singers! :-)

Took the cab back. And arranged our shoppings for the day. Just the warm up for shopping.

Calculating the damage for the day.
