Penang : Part 5 - Cheong Fatt Tze Mansion, Rojak Pasembur, Holy Infant of Jesus Church

For the afternoon activity, we head off to visit Cheong Fatt Tze Mansion. It is huge. Well, duh. It is a mansion after all. It is also nicknamed the Blue Mansion by some French movie makers when they filmed there. We went there at 3pm which was in time for our one-hour tour around the mansion. The ticket costs RM12. There was a lady to explain to us on the history of the house. So, Mr Cheong Fatt Tze was a self-made rich person from China, having married a couple of times, and his last wife he married when he was 72 and she 20.. or younger or maybe slightly older. This house was built based on feng shui - on how rainwater can flow in and circulate in the courtyard, and the water flows out in another opening.

Next stop - food! We had Rojak Pasembur in Balik Pulau New Market. Rojak Pasembur is Malaysian Indian salad consisting of cucumber (shredded), potatoes, beancurd, turnip, bean sprouts, prawn fritters, and served with a sweet and spicy nut sauce. In other parts of Malaysia, it is called Rojak Mamak. This rojak is quite spicy too.

Then, my friend brought us to the church she frequents - Holy Infant of Jesus Church. I was in awe of the structure when I looked out from the car. I was really surprised. I peeped inside the church and thanked Mother Mary for taking care of my aunt.
