18082012 - We woke up at 4.15am to see the Sunrise view at Borobudur Temple.
Similar to the sunset view, we paid Rp185,000, and with effective 1 Aug 2012, the price is now Rp230,000. Another ridiculous arrangement where the sunrise ticket starts from 4.30am, whereas the sun slowly made its presence at about 5.15am and the free all-day entry (customers for Manohara Hotel) starts at 6am. I wonder how much will they increase to. There was a local family that I met in Borobudur who went in for free! Apparently, their relative works there. Now, I wonder how much free entries do they give out, while the foreigners pay a daylight robbery price.

The below photos are the gradual sunrise, which unfortunately the sun cannot be seen because it was cloudy.
See, no sun. Sad. Disappointed.
After the various attempts of snapping the sunrise, we took photos of us and the temple. Lots of carvings you are going to see. You may be bored after the 2nd photo, and if you do not understand the carvings, you will be bored. Of course, the carvings have a story. It is the story of Buddha. Well, I did not understand the carvings, and I did not complete each level. After the 4th level from the top, I walked down the stairs without circling the other levels.

It was during one of our attempts to get a good jumping shot that a photographer came up to us and offered his professional advice on adjusting the camera functions. It was there that I learnt this new phrase - A photographer does not take a photo of himself because it steals their soul. Because I asked if he wanted to snap a jumping photo too. Anyway, my response - Wow, that is deep. .... steals their soul ... But I guess it's okay if he poses for a wedding shoot? Or if his friends offered to snap a photo with him? Or is he going to say - steal my soul you should not (and runs off).
I absolutely love this photo. We asked one of the guards to help us, and he snapped an excellent photo!
