Hong Kong & Macau : Part 7 - Steamed Milk and Shopping!

19072012 - Today is a day of shopping! The day I have been anticipating for. But before that, we are going to have breakfast at Australia Milk. It is famous for its steamed milk. Well, something famous is always something I look forward to, so I can proudly declare I have tasted it. Haha!

We took the tram ride to Central Train Station, where one of the exits is located in WorldWide House. Most of the times, we took the train from Central Station.

In Central Train Station, there was free wifi. Here, my sister will tell me to stop so she can connect her phone to the wifi. Since her phone cannot identify the wifi network at our place of stay. In the train station, the wifi lasts for 15 minutes before it disconnects and you have to reconnect at the website. This only lasts for 5 times.

We took the train to Jordan Train Station and walked around looking for Parkes Street. I pronounced 'Parks' and 'Park-kes' but no one understood. So, we had to rely on the map. The place we wanted to go to was closed on that day. So, we went to another shop that sold the same kind of breakfast we were looking for.

This restaurant is recognised by the Tourism Board, and so I am assured of the quality of food!

'

Our special breakfast that morning was steamed milk. Those are bowls of steamed milk on display.

These are bowls of steamed egg.

We had each set for breakfast. We looked at someone's breakfast at our table (it is common to share tables in Hong Kong due to the limited space) and asked what was he having. He pointed to the set.

Our breakfast for the day costs HKD79. We ordered a bowl of steamed milk (which both of us shared) which is not part of the set. Quite excited to taste it.

We tasted it, and both of us agreed that this will be the last time we are having this. It was very milky, and I was assigned to finish the bowl. I swallowed the jelly-like milk to avoid tasting it.

Here is our shopping trail for the day. From Ladies Market to Fa Yuen Street.

After breakfast, we took the train to Mongkok and it was quite easy to find Ladies Street.

Ladies Street. One has to bargain to less than half of the price. Most of the sellers are from China, and so are the goods.

Then, we went on to Sneakers Street. We entered into almost every shoe shop because my sister wanted to look for the best sandal.

Then, we stopped at a herbal shop to rest from the heat.

We had a bowl of 'gui ling gao' (tortoise jelly) which is a jelly-like Chinese Medicine that is bitter and syrup is added to sweeten. It costs HKD45.

This is my new hat that I bought at Ladies Street! I love it! The wide brim. The colours. And the best part is I do not feel the heat anymore.

Then, we wanted to go to the Flower Market. Along the way, we saw this street, and turned inside here instead. It is another stretch of Fa Yuen Street.

After shopping, we went looking for JinHua Ice Hall for their famous pineapple bun. We found the place but it has a different name. We could only identify it by the shop number.

The pineapple buns. Actually, they are called pineapple buns because the top of the bun looks like a pineapple. The buns are empty inside.

So, we ordered Set A. Must be really good to have limited quota.

Here is our meal. It's so filling. The bun itself was filling we had trouble finishing the chicken wing and egg tarts. Our excellent meal costs HKD94.

The chicken wing has to be dipped in honey to taste better.

The bun is really delicious. The top is so crunchy. Yummy! After the meal, we went for another round of shopping!

Our shopping was cut short because our bladders could not take it anymore. The shops do not allow us to borrow their washrooms. In addition, the nearest public toilet was near the train station. So, we took the train back right after that. So unsatisfied I was.
