Tibet & Nepal : Part 11 - Chhomrong and Dovan

Merry Christmas, readers! :-) Me love Christmas!

Good morning Ghandruk! It is 11 Sept. And how amazing it was to wake up to the sight of hills and greenery. Await from the city bustles, the smoke, the noise pollution and work. :-) We tried something new for breakfast everyday. It was delicious considering we needed the food for the heat and energy.

Destination for the day: Chhomrong (2170m above sea level)

This is the last guesthouse that sells bottled mineral water. After that, we had to buy boiled filtered water. And fill into our own water bottle, to prevent plastic bottles from being thrown everywhere. Boiled filtered water was alright. It didn't give any of us stomachache.

Time for a group photo. It was a group photo everyday before we start our trek!

On the way, we were chased by a buffalo. It was a female. The animal was chasing the guy in our group. The assistant guide chased the buffalo away. It was quite dangerous trying to avoid the buffalo as we were sharing the stair-path. The buffalo took up 80% of the path.

On the stoned paths, we see a lot of poo. This is donkey poo. We have trekked long enough to be able to identify the poo to its animal.

We hang our clothes on our bags to dry the clothes while we trek. Our clothes still stink of sweat from the day before. Most of us wore dry-fit tops anyway. So, mine did not stink that bad until almost to the end of the trek. Terrible sweat smell!

Along the way, we saw this 'excited' donkey. I wanted to snap a photo of his extreme 'excitement', and then the 'excitement' shrunk quickly.

Along the trek, there were many beautiful flowers! I have never so many beautiful flowers in any trek.

Bought Cola to quench the thirst. It is very refreshing. And costs Rs100 (RM5). It's a 250ml bottle.

Chhomrong, we have arrived! That night, we had mooncake because it the Mid-Autumn Festival also known as the Mooncake Festival. That night, the moon was yellow and round. It was the first time I saw the moon gradually rising up to the sky.

12 Sept - Chhomrong is beautiful. It was drizzling when we started our trek.

Destination for the day - Dovan (2580m above sea level).

We stopped at a shop to buy boiled filtered water. This was the cheapest shop among all that we stopped. It costs Rs30 per litre.

Lunch stop! It was raining during lunch. So, we waited for the rain to stop and laze around. Sleeping with the sweat and the rain. Bad combination! It was cold, and I was jumping around getting some heat.

From Dovan onwards, it was a public toilet to be used. Pay Rs150 for a hot shower. But I took my chance and took a cold shower. I washed my hair, and I thought, what the heck, and threw the cold water on myself. COLD! But my body heat warmed me when I stopped pouring cold water on myself. It was the quickest shower I ever had. And the best after the sweaty tiring trek.

We were also given tea and biscuits at 4pm.

After tea, I had nothing to do. While some of my friends went back to sleep and others talked to the crew, I snapped photos of the menu.

We shared food among the 5 of us, so we can try more dishes!

That is our cool keychain for our rooms.

Then, my friend realised the floor was slightly lower. The guide said there was a heater underneath. So, I bent down, and snapped the photo. The heater is only used during winter. And we were cold despite it not being winter!! I do not want to experience winter at all.
