Bali : Part 3 - Torture Haven

Today was the day. I was filled with trepidation, anticipation and fear. The fear of not being able to conquer the mountain. It was 6am, and the tour guide picked us up from the hotel. It was an hour drive to the base of the mountain. It was a 4-day, 3 night package that cost me USD220.

Passed by some lovely paddy fields along the way.

The entrance to the base of the mountain.

That was our route.

The board stated how far it took to trek to each post. And with those information in mind, we started our trek.

After an hour, we saw a shop selling basic necessities. That was the last form of civilisation we saw before heading into the jungle.

The National Park of Mountain Rinjani via Senaru Gate.

After two hours, the first stop.

After 2 hours. Lunch stop.

We had 5 porters helping us to carry our bags. And our trekking guide was also our cook. Here is his number by the way. His name is Shah Lhun. Yes, we are still in contact - +6287865999198.

That is our guide in black sweater. He cooks amazingly!

After lunch, we trekked another 3 hours.

The last stop before we stopped for the night. It was a really tiring trek. My daily routine of running up 21 flights of stairs was almost giving up on me.

But the trek was worth it. After huffing and puffing, we reached the top, and was greeted by the most amazing view.

The mist was covering the view of the Segara Anak Lake, Baru Mountain and Rinjani Mountains.

The mist slowly disappeared.

The mist disappeared and revealed an amazing sight to behold. The photos tell no justice. You have to see it for yourself.

Soon, the sun was setting. The sun setting among the clouds.

Here is our camp for the night. It is not cold at all. The tent was really thick. It was a nice warm sleep. Of course, we didn't bathe that night. We just wiped ourselves. Because soon enough, after the trek and the rest, the chill started to seep in. In we snuggled inside the sleeping bags and tents.

Next day --> the trek to the peak.
