Costs
1) Tickets to Gardens by the Bay - S$14 per person for Observatory to see sunset. We had paid for OCBC Skyway too but we got refunded as we were not allowed to go up due to bad weather - rained VERY heavily. The staff told us to come back the next day but we left Singapore the next day. I emailed the customer service immediately and I was refunded the Skyway tickets.
2) Taxi from Hotel Balestier to Tebrau train station - S$20
3) Train ticket from Singapore to Johor Bahru, Malaysia - RM16.70 per person
The Story
26012025: Today's breakfast is at Lau Pa Sat food court. It was not fully opened yet as we were quite early. After breakfast, we walked around the area to see the Merlion and Raffles statue to get my ice-cream bread (a long queue of tourists was there).
In the evening, we went to Gardens by the Bay. Finally, I get to see the giant lamp tree-poles that lit up at night. It drizzled when we arrived at the place. Inititally, we were not allowed to go out on the Observatory's rooftop deck as it was raining. Gradually, the rain subsided and we got to go out and walk around the deck. I could not see any sunset as the sky was filled with rain clouds.
We waited for the giant tree-poles to be lit up. Magnificent. There was even music played and the lights changed colours according to the beat of the music.
We left the place as it poured so much. Shoes were soaking wet. What a beautiful night!
That marks the end of our holidays in Singapore. A memorable trip. I got to see Singapore again, appreciate the nature side of Singapore and hung out with my sister. Some friends (who live in Singapore) asked me what are there to do in Singapore as they told their relatives that there is nothing to see here. They are definitely missing out on what Singapore has to offer and I am not referring to the theme park on Sentosa. I read some posts on social media that Singapore is an expensive country to enjoy the food. When I read where the writer had their meals, I was not surprised. It was in the expensive areas for tourists. We had our meals in non-tourist areas. Of course, one has to take the bus out. But public transportation is affordable in Singapore.
27012025: The next day, we left Singapore by train. We took the train as we had a big luggage and we did not know which size was allowed on the bus. We took a taxi from the hotel to Woodlands train station. It was my shortest train ride to enter into another country - Malaysia. 5 minutes was all it took!
