My first major hike started here in 2009 - Pinnacles Summit Trek in Mulu, Miri, Sarawak located in East Malaysia. When my friend proposed that I joined them because of my build, I thought it was going to be a piece of cake, but my, was I in for a shock. My first exposure to train myself was the hill in Cheras.
We boarded AirAsia to the East of Malaysia, and how I miss the prices back then. Now, the flight tickets include lots of miscellaneous prices which basically is not affordable anymore. Nowadays, I think twice before agreeing to travel. I digress.
It was my first time on a flight for a holiday. I was very excited. Nowadays, the airport is like my second home.
Upon reaching the airport in Miri, the hostel has arranged for someone to pick us up. I like the hostel we stayed in. The prices were affordable and it came with breakfast. We stayed in a dormitory kind of room, and so none of us were separated. My friends spoke to the owner of the hostel, and she was telling us the stories of visitors who stayed there. Most of them who stayed were there to climb the Pinnacles Summit Trek. And why do I say "climb" instead of "trek"? Because .. we were climbing ... rocks. *horrors*
We did a bit of shopping in Miri, as we were going to do some cooking at the campsite in Mulu.
That night, we had seafood because seafood was apparently cheap in the East.
I love my dinner. :-)
And this is how our dormitory looks like. Just the 4 of us in that spacious room, which means we get to sleep anywhere! :-)
