Sabah : Part 2 - Visiting Kundasang

17052011 - This is the start of our 3-day, 2-night itinerary we bought for our Kinabalu Hike. Our travel guide brought us to Kundasang. Had breakfast at Ranau. Apparently, this restaurant is famous for the Tuaran noodles. It is quite tasty actually.

After breakfast, we headed to a temple where we prayed for a safe hike up the mountains. And that we can reach the peak in time for the sunrise. And that it will not rain!

We stopped at a bridge. Nothing fancy here. Guess it's a tourist attraction place.

After the brief walk on the Bridge, we were headed to the National Park of Kota Kinabalu. I am finally here. The National Park of Kota Kinabalu. The place where I will start my hike. It was an exciting feeling.

After registering for the climb, we headed to Kinabalu Pine Resort where we stayed for the night. Lunch was part of the package. There were lots of beautiful flowers at the Resort. It was so cooling just being there.

After lunch, we headed towards Kundasang War Memorial. Very tragic. This is a must-visit area when you come to Kundasang.

This is a memorial to commemorate the brave Australian and British Prisoners of War (POW) who died in Sandakan and during the infamous death marches to Ranau during World War II. Also, to remember the people of North Borneo who risked their lives to help the POWs. The Memorial is made up of four beautiful gardens - the Australian Garden, the English Garden, the Borneo Garden and the Contemplation Garden and Pool - to represent the different nationalities.

After the Kundasang War Memorial trip, we were headed towards Poring Hot Spring. The water was not that hot.

That night, we had steamboat for dinner. It was the package deal in that Resort. The tour guide got so bored of eating steamboat he had rice with chicken.

Tonight, I slept with a lot of anxiety. Thinking of the 'what-ifs'.
