The Story
15082025: Today, we check out from the apartment. We had the same breakfast from the same place as yesterday.
We checked out and took tram 12 from Stop: Badaliceva to Stop: Kvaternikov Torg where we will take the bus to the airport. We bought our tickets from the app - by scanning the QR-code in the tram. You can see a sticker with a QR-code by the door. We scanned the code 3 times as we bought 3 tickets.
Upon reaching our stop, we bought physical tickets from the Tisak kiosk for the bus ride to the airport. We asked the seller which duration of tickets should we get. He said that 30 minutes is sufficient. The Tisak kiosk is the one with the red signboard.
We had our lunch in the area before taking the bus.
I was not too hungry for lunch as I had breakfast at 9am. It was only 12.10pm and I did not do any walking activities. Plus, the heat does not create appetite for me.
This is Istrian pasta Pljukanci made from flour, egg and water. Istria is a triangle peninsula that is part of Croatia and Slovenia. The way they make it orignated from Istria. One pinches a bit of the dough and roll it until it becomes and thin and compact pasta. This pasta reminded me of the Chinese noodles - loh shi fun or lao shu fen (mouse tail). The Chinese version is made with rice flour and corn starch which you can say is gluten-free.
After lunch, my travel companions wanted to have dessert. So, we went to a cafe nearby and each got dessert while I skipped. They had kremsnite and a strawberry strudel. The kremsnite is so cheap here. I had coffee only.
Then, we made our way towards the bus stop. There were others waiting for the bus too. We took bus 290 at 2.05pm from Stop: Kvaternikov Torg to Stop: Zracna Luka (translated as airport). It was very hot and stuffy in the bus. No airconditoning and the windows were closed. We were all sweating.
Got my last radler for the trip. I had it while calculating our expenses and stating out the debts for one another. I am usually happy when I announce the expenses to everyone. The travel companions are happy that someone is keeping track of the expenses. I do it willingly as their costs are usually higher than mine since they have beer.
We took Polish Airlines back to Stockholm. Flight departed at 5.55pm, earlier than the planned time 6.05pm and we landed at Warsaw about 15 minutes earlier but it takes time for the plane to reach the gate. Our next flight got delayed by 15 minutes but we landed in Stockholm in good time too.
First flight - I chose a raspberry, coffee, orange juice and water.
I was happy with my trip. It did not rain at all. I would say that we had good weather to be outside everyday despite the glaring and scorching heat. I did more nature experience than town. Many dips in the warm and blue Adriatic sea and cool Korana river, walk around Lokrum and Sumartin islands, hike Mount Srd to see the sunset, walk around Plitvice Lake and went inside a cave. Zagreb and Dubrovnik were the two town experiences that we did. That was my plan - to be in nature more than town, after last year's unsettling and unfulfilling feeling post-Austria trip. I am glad that the trip went well although I would have tweaked my plans on hindsight which is to stay lesser nights in Plitvice and spend them in another place.

The machine used my Euro to purchase SEK as we were in Sweden and convert that purchased SEK to Euro to be withdrawn. We asked ChatGPT and it summarised for us that there are no withdrawal fees. This is when I realised that you cannot trust ChatGPT! We researched Wise website before doing this transaction and could not find any answer hence we seek help from ChatGPT. Useless and expensive lesson.)
