The Story
12082025: Today, we check out from Plitvice. We took the buffet breakfast provided by the accommodation so it is a separate payment for it. We had the buffet breakfast on the first day and prepared our own for the next 3 days. Since we are leaving today, we decided to make it easy for us. But expensive.

Before leaving Plitvice, we drove to Rastoke town and took a dip in Korana river one last time.

We did not stop anywhere during our drive to Zagreb. It was about two and a half hours so we were not tired. We drove directly to the car rental company. I managed to find an accommodation near the car rental company so we walked to a restaurant nearby for lunch while waiting for check-in time at 2pm. It was an easy process to return the car. The staff checked the car and we got our deposit returned to the debit card within the same day.

For lunch, it is pasta for me.

I moved around while waiting for the time to pass. I enjoy sitting on swings.

Finally, we could check in. It was a lovely apartment! There is a washing machine which was the main reason I booked the place. It is neat and clean. Also, there is aircond! Another reason why I chose the place. Aircond is necessary when travelling to warm countries.

After checking in and doing the laundry, we looked for cakes. We wanted to try Kremsnita in Croatia. We had two in Slovenia. One costs EUR5,40 and the other costs EUR6. They are quite expensive. We had ours here for EUR3.

We walked into town to start our sight-seeing. It was hot and we tried to walk as much as we can in the shade. I researched on some places of attraction.

First, we saw the Art Pavilion but we did not go in. Instead, we went to a bar to quench our thirst.

The walk continued to Zrinjevac Public Park. The town offers free wifi at designated spots. Useful for tourists from non-EU countries.

Really giant trees planted in the park and there is a meteorological thermometer that was built in 1884.

The Meteorological Pole from 1884. It showed 32 degrees on the thermometer.

The next place I wanted to go was Mirogoj Cemetery. It took us about 1 hour 15 minutes to get there. We should have taken the tram but we did not know that. We just wanted to take a walk in town but I was keen to see the cemetery. My travel companions were sweating badly.

Passed by town center. Scroll down to see the last photo which is the town center at night.

Passed by the market that we plan to go to tomorrow for breakfast. It was empty.

We arrived at the cemetery and there were many mosquitoes. Standing there for a minute and both my legs were bitten so badly. Some of the areas were closed for renovation so we could not walk along the corridors of the building. It was difficult to appreciate the walk as my legs itched very badly.

We saw the tomb of a famous Croatian canoeist who competed in the Olympics. A statue of him paddling a canoe is on his tomb.

The tomb of the first Croatian President.

We walked back and stopped at a Chinese restaurant for dinner. It was nice to have Chinese food for a change.

I took this picture because of the giant clock. In Stockholm, I see giant clocks at train stations. I wonder if this clock is a decoration.

Quite good portions for the price we paid.

The town center during the night. It was a warm summer night. Not cooling.
