(1) Metro Ticket to return to Bois de Boulogne - EUR1.80

The Story

030915: Satisfied with the view from the Cathedral of Notre Dame Tower, we headed downstairs. It was windy and cold as we stepped out. Brr.. I was stuffing my hands into my jackets and tightening my shawl around my neck. But how much can I tighten it anyway.. We walked behind the Cathedral and got different views of the Cathedral.

Of course, one of the many lock bridges. So many locks. So many sellers selling locks.

I wanted to try Paris food badly and to eat outside the cafe watching the pedestrians. It is like a sort-of thing one must do in Paris. So, we parked ourselves in a cafe eating crepe! We tried to find the cheapest crepe. If my memory serves me right, this crepe costs us EUR4. Yes, I am aware it is not cheap at all. But it is Paris. Can you see that we sliced it into half to share the food?

After many hours of walking around Paris asking for directions to Eiffel Tower, we finally found it at 9.30pm. My legs were aching so bad. We did not take the metro because it is expensive taking the train, and we did thought it would have been near to get to Eiffel Tower. It turns out Paris is a big city. Eiffel Tower - the must go place of Paris. There were so many tourists. Sellers selling the Eiffel Tower replica as souvenirs.

We did not stay long at Eiffel Tower because we have to get back to Bois de Boulogne. This time, we took the Metro back. I called the receptionist at Indigo Paris to ask which station to get to but we have some serious communication breakdown. There was also no officer at the ticket counter for us to ask for directions. The station we stopped at was supposedly very near to Bois de Boulogne. Yes, it is near to Bois de Boulogne but far from Indigo Paris. We walked about 2 hours to get back and reached at 12.45am, about 15 minutes before the camp locked its gate.

Let me illustrate to you the walk we had from the metro station to Indigo Paris.

"We exited the metro station and walked out to the cold air. It was dark. There were no streetlights. My friend saw a map of how to get to Bois de Boulogne at the exit of the metro station. But there were no clear road directions. Based on my friend's direction instincts, we walked straight on, passing by huge gardens, and dark buildings. I saw a car switched on its light as we walked pass. We were guided by the moonlight. I got scared. I wondered if the car will start its engine but it did not. Shortly, the lights were switched off. As we walked into the gardens, a motorcycle was heard behind us. I got terrified, holding tightly to my bag. Inside my bag were my passport, monies and my Identification Card. My friend steered us to a path inside the garden. He looked very calm. The motorcycle made a U-Turn shortly after. I was relieved. I got scared again as we walked inside the garden which led us to the hippodrome (the horse tracks). It was dark. I wished there were streetlights inside. I was afraid if anyone will jump out from the trees. We were walking very fast. My heart was beating so fast out of fear. We reached the main road. My friend directed me to the next hippodrome. I felt like I was going inside a dark hole and be swallowed by it. I held back and said no, I don't want to walk through that. It is so dark. I am afraid. So, we walked along the main road. There were streetlights. There were cars passing by. I saw a few persons walking too. My friend saw 2 prostitutes lingering. He asked me to look but I was too afraid to look at them. Actually, they were transvestites. I kept walking forward. I looked at the watch. It was 12.30am. I told him we were getting late. The camp locks its doors by 1am. He assured me we were reaching but I was in doubts. We made a turn at a corner and saw the entrance of Indigo Paris. It was 12.45am. I could finally slow down my walk. I was relieved."

The next day, I found out from my friend that Bois de Boulogne is not safe at night. The place is a famous 'night activity', hence the reason, there were prostitutes and transvestites. Apparently, prostitutes appear till midnight and after that, are the transvestites. I was surprised because I have never read of this before anywhere. I scolded my friend for omitting that fact and put us in such dangerous situation at night. He said that it was exciting. Men. Hmph.

Oh, do you remember all the police cars downtown during our walk from Notre Dame? It was spectacular many police cars, and most of them was only waiting for nothing. I think they were stand-by due to a farmers protest or something similar.
