The Day We Owe Each Other

While Malaysia remembers the victims of MH17 today on 11 July 2015, I remembered our conversation in Line application.

You Owe Me

One year ago, today, you sent me a screenshot of your examination results. You got an 'A' for your Accounts. I was so happy for you. All that hours of explaining to you the basic concepts of Debit and Credit paid off. I even drew for you stick figures and funny characters to show the movement of Debit and Credit. Then, you said, if you get an 'A', I get a Magnum Goldbar.

One year later, today, each time I see a Magnum Goldbar, I see you.

I Owe You

One year ago, today, I was so excited to share with you that I received an additional allowance from additional responsibilities in my job. You were in a hurry to meet your friend but you spared that few minutes to read what I had to write. You said that I must treat you when we go to Japan for our holiday the following month. I said to offset with the Magnum Goldbar, and you disagree.

One year later, today, we have not gone to Japan. I have not bought you that meal.

An unfulfilled promise. An eternal debt.
