I am sorry for such a long hiatus. It has been slightly more than a month since I last wrote. As you can guess, I have not been to much places, hence not much of posts I could write. It is never because I am busy at work. Work is secondary. Blog is my love, because this is where I write about what I am passionate most - my travels and activities.
Today, I will share with you what I did at the end of February. It was impulse to do this activity. It all happened during Chinese New Year. I am in a group called Backpackers Buddies Malaysia in Facebook. One fine day, back home after eating too much during the Chinese New Year break, I saw a post in this group that has the gist of this - Anyone interested to join diving at the end of February in Tioman? My eyes went wide and I immediately replied - Yes, I am interested! I have always wanted to visit Tioman, and this is my chance. Plus with the opportunity to learn diving - one of my to-do items. It costs me RM950 for the books (book is necessary for the exams), rental of equipment, 1 confined water dive, and 4 open water dives.

On 09022014, I went for my confined water dive in PJ Palms Sports Centre which was just opposite the Taman Jaya Train Station. The lesson started at 10am, and there is where I met the dive instructor, Khai and his girlfriend, Azyani, who is also an instructor. This is his number +6019-3110948. Both of them are really good. There were 6 of us who went that day - 3 guys and 3 girls. Khai explained to us about the equipment for 30 minutes. Then, we proceeded into the swimming pool. I got my first taste of breathing underwater. It was a new feeling that I felt scared breathing through my mouth but I got confident once I felt air going into my lungs. It was not so scary after all. Just remember not to breathe through your nose. Then, we learnt to remove the masks underwater, clear the masks underwater when it is fogged up, clear the regulator (the breathing apparatus) underwater, how to retrieve the regulator when it is out from the mouth and most importantly, we learnt to never panic. Always breathe deeply and slowly. When we got all that alright, we swam to the deep end of the pool, and learnt how to equalise the pressure. Finished with all the basic techniques of diving, we have to do 2 tests - swim 300meter without the buoyancy jacket but with the fins and snorkel, and to tread water for 10 minutes. We completed by 4pm.
The only photo I could take at the pool.
On 28022014, we drove ourselves to Mersing. I will share that stories with you in my next post. I end my post now with a picture of me in my first wetsuit underwater.
