My Story

23092013 - It was very cold this morning when we woke up. It was so misty when I stepped out from the lodge to wash my face. Today morning, I tried something different. Vegetable sandwich with chips. It gives me warmth. I did not dress thickly. I was in my running tights and I was shivering, but I know I am heading to Namche Bazaar. I will be warm as soon as I start walking. I wore my gloves diligently as I wanted to prevent further sunburnt from my already sunburnt right hand.

As we walked, we heard many helicopters. That morning, we heard 3 helicopter rescue. Good business for them as the trekking season starts. One helicopter ride is USD5000. So, best to get an insurance. No money, no flight, bye bye.

Along the route, we can see Mount Everest. We are so lucky. Last chance to have a photo taken with Mount Everest.

We see yak dung being mixed with water, rolled and dried. It did not smell at all.

It was a tiring walk up to Tengboche Village. We reached Tengboche Village after 40 minutes on a never-seem-to-be-ending flight of rocky stairs and could see the last glimpse of Mount Everest. Other mountains were being covered by the clouds except for Everest.

While walking, we see some Himalayan Thar. I saw my first ones along the route from Tengboche to Dingboche.

Finally, at 4pm, we see Namche Bazaar. Namche is like a small town in this mountainous region, and it feels safe to be here. To be surrounded by restaurants, bakeries, pharmacy, shops and many people. It was a relief to be back in Namche.

For dinner, my sister and I shared Tomato Egg Drop Soup and Mushroom Cheese Pizza. Egg drop means the egg is dropped right before the soup is served. The pizza tasted alright to me. Well, I am not a great food critic. Basically, I eat anything that is edible. As for my sister, she finds is delicious except for the strong smell of the cheese.

We were ahead of schedule by one day because we skipped the acclimatisation day in Dingboche. We were in good health and continued our walk up to Lobuche the next day. Hence, an extra day in Namche Bazaar. So, tonight, we get to sleep a little later like 8.30pm. Haha! And we get to wake up later like 7.30am because we have nothing much to do tomorrow.
