It has always been in my list to visit Hong Kong. Well, I got that desire recently because I hear shopping there is cheap. Plus, most of my friends have been there. So, it's up to me to visit this place by myself, and I popped the suggestion to my sister to follow me too. Yay, she agreed. And that was last year in September 2011. I bought the tickets to Hong Kong and fly back from Macau for a total of about RM340. Well, it has been told that Macau can be covered in a day, and why waste the opportunity.
As the day passes by, I refrained myself from shopping, saved money on food and unnecessary expenses. When there is determination, it will happen. I did save some money, I think.
On 14072012, when the awaited day arrived, I donned my best summer-y clothes because it is summer in Hong Kong, another setback that people has warned me about. But I did not heed because firstly, it is the sales month, and secondly, I have purchased the tickets!! A YHA in New Zealand had a post - There is no such thing as a bad weather, just the wrong clothing. And I totally agreed to that.
So, with my best summer clothes, and my nails painted in yellow, we arrived at the airport. Quite excited I was.
At 6.25pm, the skyscrapers of Hong Kong could be seen! I was surprised to see so many tall buildings which reminded me of dominoes!
At the airport, we bought the airport express ticket for HKD160 to bring us to Hong Kong Train Station. It came in a pair, so I am not sure how much if you buy a single ticket.
In the express train, there was a indication line to show the stations. The blue line indicates the journey is completed.
Upon reaching the Hong Kong Train Station, we bought mochi (tangy delicacy filled with red bean paste) because we were so hungry. That is when we noticed the food is costly. We were waiting for my sister's friend who was going to put us up at his place. I am so thankful for that, because the accommodation is expensive in Hong Kong too.
Upon stepping out from the train station, I could feel the heat of Hong Kong. It was night and I am feeling the heat.. how will day be like? So, the friend treated us to a Hotpot Place for dinner. Well, despite the weather, it was still okay to have Hotpot!
The various sauces and chili to make your own paste to dip for your dish.
This is my paste I am going to use for my dish. It is not hot, not spicy, and I was worried of getting a stomachache if I dipped my food in it. But I did not! I am amazed at my stomach.
This is mutton with extremely lean meat, which I did not feel full at all after eating many slices. As I have the habit of skipping dinner (to save money), I did not feel too full eating the meat. Lean meat makes a lot of difference. Or maybe I was so excited I just eat and it got digested immediately.
Beef.
Cuttlefish ball.
The soup where we boiled our dishes. Yummy soup.
