Gunung Nuang : Failed Attempt

Reading all these trekking posts made me realise the number of places I have been. I am proud to have trekked these places. It would have been nice to share my achievements, my happiness, and my beaming proud self.

On 20.01.2011, my friends invited me to trek Gunung Nuang, the highest mountain in Selangor. It was a 7-8 hour trek. This is by far, the only mountain that I have not conquered. Disappointed. I wished to go back here again. Well, if I could go alone, I would have. But I have been advised against it.

The trek started with a 1-hour walk on flat ground, and slightly leveraged land.

The start of the trek begins when we reached the first waterfall.

To ensure you are on the right track, follow the path of the big pipe.

About 2 hours later, I reached Pacat (Leech) Camp. Thankfully, there were no leeches!

Reached Pacat Camp! It was about 400m before the peak, which I didn't proceed due to insufficient time. One must reach the peak by 1pm, to ensure you can reach back before dark. Despite reaching Pacat Camp at 11.15am, I didn't press on as I am very aware of my speed which is not a match for the last 400m, as it was a very steep trek.

I reached back to the base 3 hours later.

Disappointment disappointment...
