On 11072010, my friends and I departed from Kuala Lumpur towards Kampung Raja, Cameron Highlands. Cameron Highlands is located in the state of Pahang, which is the north of Kuala Lumpur, which is about 4 hours drive. I think. Well, I am terrible with roads and driving. I could be wrong about the estimation!
Today, we are going to trek Gunung Irau, also known as Mossy Hill. Well, not today but the following day.
We stopped for lunch at Rawang in this famous restaurant.
After lunch, we were on back on the road. Stopped at the night market in Cameron Highlands.
Colourful little vegetables, which I understand can last for a year. I think they are preserved for ornaments. I saw a very green preserved guava. Looks too scary for consumption
And I learnt that there are 2 kinds of corn - white and yellow. Yellow must be steamed before eating. White (slightly yellow) like those in the photos can be eaten raw. Very sweet!
After checking out every stall in the night market, we were on our way to our camp site to stay for the night. Drove up 9km towards Gunung Brinchang which is on the way to the Boh Tea Plantation. Reached the site, and felt the cold immediately! The site was a big empty land, with a small hall-like structure. My friends were layering the wet floor with flysheet before setting up the tent.
We have 3 tents. The guys sleep in one tent each. Also, must always remember to bring a yoga mat as a layer in the tent. Then only put your sleeping bag on it. Or not, you can feel the cold seeping through your bag.
