England : Part 4 - The Wedding!

Today is the day of the wedding! I was so excited.

The first time I participated in an English wedding.
The first time I participated in an English wedding that is a garden wedding.
The first time I participated in an English wedding that is a garden wedding in a sort-of mansion!

Best of all, the first penpal's wedding I participated. :-)

We left the house at about 9am for Micklefield Hall. Guests were slowly trickling into the hall. I saw the wedding car, and it is so cute! The 'temple' where they were going to be married was decorated beautifully, albeit being simple. I love how the colourful flowers circulate around the pillar.

I thought that since the wedding was during the summer, it was going to be hot. But I was wrong. Thankfully, I brought a shawl. Which matched my dress. Fortunately! I am holding a glass of Pimms. It is a summer drink made of mint leaves, lemonade and some alcohol. No, I did not get drunk. But it was a lovely summer drink. There were a selection of Pimms, champagne, water and canapes (small food).

While waiting for the time of the wedding reception which was in the evening, I snapped some photos around the field. It is windy and sunny. You just want to throw your shoes away and keep running.

The wedding reception was held at Aldenham Golf Club. I remembered the dad saying this was an international wedding as there were representatives from Asia (me), America (another penpal) and Europe (some of her friends from university). I love the wedding cake. It is so cute with rabbits because my penpal loves rabbits!

Me and the American penpal's sister. We were drinking champagne.

Here we are seated at Table No. 5. In an English wedding, one is served a selection of desserts, a selection of cheese which I didn't take any because I do not know how to eat cheese, biscuits with butter, sugar and milk and 'After 8' mint chocolates (now, this I like). I am not sure if these servings are common in English weddings but they sure are different from Chinese, Malays and Indians weddings I have attended in Malaysia.

And after the meal, it was dancing through the night! It was an amazing wedding!
