Tibet and Nepal post will come up soon. This is a diversion. :-)
I have stayed in Kuala Lumpur (KL) for the past 10 years, and I am ashamed to admit that I have not been to some of KL's finest achievements. Somehow, I have this enthusiasm inside me to visit all of KL's famous attractions before the year comes to an end.
Last Saturday, I visited KL Tower and Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) Skybridge which is between Petronas Twin Towers. My sister and I started our day as early as 8am, and we waited till night to watch the night view. It was slightly more than 12 hours before we call it a night. The legs ache. The legs slowed down its pace. The legs were forced to keep going. But it was definitely worth it.
KL is full of high-rise buildings.
Petronas Twin Towers is located next to Maxis Tower. Maxis is one of our main telecommunication providers in Malaysia. Petronas Twin Towers has 88 floors each. The Skybridge you see in the photo is a double skybridge located at both 41st and 42nd floor.
KLCC Park.
We drove to KLCC Park, and parked there. Wrong move. The parking rate was hourly. We can't find the flat rate! Oh well. It was still early and no one was about. Suria KLCC is a mall.
From KLCC, we walked to KL Tower. It's about 20 minutes' walk. Very near actually.
The ticket to KL Tower costs me RM35. And that is with our Identification Card. For those who are tourists, the cost is RM55. Well, the price differs to the type of package you choose. For us, we chose the Observation Deck + Xtreme Theater. There is another package to ride a pony and see some animals. The pony ride is just 2 rounds around a '4m x 2m' square. So not worth it.
We were early at 9.30am. We took the lift to the Observation Deck.
Lo and behold, the view of KL.
Anyone who is interested can use the headphone and a small explanation box that tells about each part of KL. I got tired hearing after 5 minutes, and that is because I know the history.
From KL Tower, one can see the Petronas Twin Towers.
We came down after about 1.5 hours. Then, we took the nature walk in Bukit Nanas Forest Reserve. It is next to the KL Tower. This is the first time I entered into a Forest that has so many mosquitoes! In all my hikes and treks, I never got bitten by mosquitoes! The trail was very easy. We finished the trail in about 30 minutes. Actually, there was another path to a longer trail, but I prefer not to go on due to the mosquitoes.
And after the walk, we went on the Extreme Ride. It is in 3D and we just experience the roller coaster ride. It was fun! I didn't see anyone going on the Ride. I did see other tourists going on the pony ride.
Then, it was a walk back to KLCC for our Skybridge appointment at 3.15pm. Initially, the Skybridge walk was free and people have to queue up as early as 6am to get the tickets. But starting December 2011, there was a charge of RM25. RM3 to just view from the Skybridge. RM25 to view from the Skybridge at 41st Floor and Observation Deck at 86th Floor. So WORTH GOING FOR!
On the walk back to KLCC, we saw a newly opened walkway, KL City Walk. The shops were newly opened. And there were not many people.
In KLCC, there was a new candy store! I bought a box of candies that have crazy flavours, like 'barf', 'rotten egg', 'dog's pee' and you know how gross the others are. Haha!
It is 3.15pm. Security is tight. Bags and people have to be scanned. And at the Skybridge, time allocation is 15 minutes, while on Level 86, time allocation is 20 minutes.
To go to Level 86, one has to go to level 83 first.
The view of KL right in front of you in little blocks of wood.
Our tickets have QR functions. So, I put my tickets in front of the camera on top of the television screen. And 'Twin Towers' will appear. So cool!
After KLCC, we walked to Pavilion Mall which is about 10 minutes' walk.
The collection of Unity Bears are in Pavilion till 15 February 2012. It is an effort by UNESCO. Each country painted the bear the way their country will be represented. There were many bears. I am guessing about slightly more than 200 bears.
Night falls. We walked back to KLCC. And it's time to snap more photos! The lights are so pretty in KLCC!
Photo taken in front of KLCC.
Photo taken slightly further away from KLCC.
Photo taken from where the car is parked.
Mission accomplished!
